The Painting of a Porch Floor....
Before painting, all surfaces must be clean and dry. Here, Tim Weimer from Weimer Home Improvement lightly powerwashes the porch to remove cobwebs and dirt.
The area of the painted rug is measured out and the first coat is painted. Next, after the first coat has dried for 24 hours, 12" x 12" squares are painted on top.
Tape is used to help make lines and corners perfect.
5 layers of paint later, Here is the finished product!
Sherwin-Williams graciously donated their "floor enamel" paints for this project. Many thanks to the Troy Sherwin Williams store for supporting the community!
Almost Finished.....

Green Thumbs at the Knoop House
The front lawn and areas close to the house that holds the offices for the Miami County Parks District are really a mess. In this case, that's a good thing! Pathways leading around the house to all the porches have been created, along with new gardens and fresh plants.
To the left is Dan Poast, ISA certified arborist. He is a master gardener from the Ohio State University donating his time to transform the gardens.
To the right is the new sidewalk being laid by Quality Lawn and Garden.
Thank you everyone for your hard work! It looks beautiful so far and we can't wait until it's finished.

Let the fun begin!
The work is in full swing at the Knoop House. The house is bustling with work crews while designers are still quietly plotting their designs from behind the scenes. Painters are working hard to get everything painted and the remodeling has begun in the kitchen.
To the left is painter Jim Johnson prepping the dining room.
Above is Michael from Marble and Granite Works measuring for the new countertops in the kitchen. Cosentino is graciously donating their ECO countertop and Marble Works is donating all the labor to fabricate and install them. The ECO countertop is made from 75% recycled content from post-industrial or post-consumer materials and is bound by an environmentally friendly resin which comes in part from corn oil.

The Knoop House Project
The Dayton Society of Interior Designers 2010 show house taking place in the renowned Knoop House just outside of Troy. The show house will be open to the public this fall from September 25 to October 10. The house and acreage was recently donated to the Miami County Parks District and serves as their main offices.
The preview party took place January 21 where designers, park district employees, benefactors, and friends joined to celebrate the designers' plans for each of the rooms. Currently, the designs are still on display so head over there and check them out!
